Race Summary World’s Toughest Row 2024/25

ONE OF THE TOUGHEST CHALLENGES ON THE PLANET

In December 2026, Lottie & Ethan will compete in the World’s Toughest Row, an unrelenting 3,000-mile crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, from the Canary Islands to Antigua.

No engine, no sails, no support, not with the goal of victory but rather the aim of showing the power of preparation, perseverance, training and execution, while helping others in the process.

Setting off from the Canary Islands, they will row continuously until they reach the Caribbean Island of Antigua.

And with each oar stroke, on a route that has been completed by fewer people than have climbed Everest, they will be raising money and awareness for the
Make a Wish Foundation.

  • Bucket and chuck it! We only biodegradable toilet roll and wipes.

  • We will row two hours on, two hours off. In the off shift you need to eat, drink, clean yourself and sleep so it’s pretty tight for time! We do everything on the boat so it can be tricky!

  • Except for certain situations, there will always be at least one person at the oars at any given time.

  • We will eat over 5000 calories a day made up with freeze dried meals and snack packs!

  • Nope! We do everything onboard and don’t stop until the finish line!

  • Batten down the hatches!!

If it’s too dangerous to row or we simply can’t row against the conditions then we can deploy our parachute anchor which sits in the water and stops us from drifting back too far but if we can fight it then we will!

  • We have an onboard desalinator- it pulls in sea water then filters it and takes all the salt out with reverse osmosis so it’s safe to drink! It can make 30 liters per hour!
